How To Import PowerPoint Presentations Into GoAnimate

GoAnimate now supports direct importing of content from PowerPoint presentations.

Here's what you need to know.

How to Import PowerPoint Files

While on the Themes page, scroll down and click on "Import PowerPoint"

On the next page, you can either Drag your PPTX onto the upload tool or simply click "Select File" to locate the file on your computer.

Supported PowerPoint Elements

Backgrounds - Imported as an image and added to Your Library.

Images - Converted to PNG format and added to Your Library.

Text - Directly imported, and editable in GoAnimate. If the font used in PowerPoint is available in GoAnimate, it will be applied. If there are a mix of styles in the original text, only one style will pass through. For example:

Fonts - If the font used in PowerPoint is available in GoAnimate, it will be applied. If not, the Noto Sans font will be used (this can be changed after importing).

Bullets and Numbered Lists - Directly imported, with levels and indentation maintained.

Footers - Imported as an image and added to Your Library.

Unsupported PowerPoint Elements

Grouped Object - These will be converted to an image and stored in Your Library. To import the individual elements, ungroup the objects prior to importing your presentation. The method used to ungroup objects depends on the version of PowerPoint you are using. A simple Internet search for "how to ungroup objects in PowerPoint" will yield relevant results.

Audio & Video

Text Spacing

Custom Bullets

PowerPoint Transitions (by default, a fade transition will be applied between each scene).

PowerPoint Animations

Tables, Charts, and Shapes - These will be converted to an image and stored in Your Library.

Certain Text Characters - Characters from languages not supported by the Noto fonts will be converted into images, as well as non-standard, hidden, glyphs that can't be accessed with a standard keyboard.

Other Notes

  1. GoAnimate videos have a 16:9 aspect ratio. Imported PowerPoint slides that have the same ratio create perfectly-matched scenes. Slides with different aspect ratios are centered vertically and horizontally, and have black bars surrounding them to cover any empty space.
  2. Imported PowerPoint files are organized in folders under the Props tab.

  3. Only files in PPTX format can be imported. If you have older presentations in PPT format, open them in a version of PowerPoint created after 2007 and convert them to PPTX before importing.

  4. Each PowerPoint slide converts into a single scene in GoAnimate, with a maximum of 50 slides. If you have more than 50 slides in a single PowerPoint, break them into multiple files before importing.

  5. The maximum supported file size for importing is 20MB.

  6. Imported PowerPoint files will be accessible from the Props tab under Your Library.
